FAQ

(Under construction, contact us with any questions or feedback.)

Can the water jet cut (fill-in-the-blank) material?

Yes, most likely. No, not tempered glass.

Water jet machines can cut materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, granite, marble, tile, plastic, wood, and more. However there are also materials that cannot be cut such as temper glass, material that cannot get wet, material that is too filmsy and fragile.

How thick of a material can the water jet cut?

Our water jet machine can typically cut as high as the head will lift off from the table which is about 6 inches. Approximately 6 inches of material the water jet will cut through.

What size material can you fit on the water jet table?

Our water jet machine is an OMAX 60120 which has 60 inch by 120 inch table. Any material this size and smaller will fit onto the bed of the water jet for cutting.

Can I visit in-person?

Please contact us through our Contact form or by telephone to schedule an in-person appointment.

What do I do if I do not have a drawing or CAD file?

So you want something cut on the water jet... well what is it? Can you draw it on paper? Can you write it down the dimensions? Can it be measured? It's your project so get as much information about it as possible and provide it to us.

What materials can and cannot the water jet cut?

The water jet can cut numerous materials such as metal, wood, plastic, rubber, tile, marble, and many more. Check out this detailed list from OMAX.

The water jet cannot cut:

  1. Tempered glass
  2. Acrylic tends to shatter but can be cut with the laser engraver at 0.250" and under.
  3. Material that cannot get wet without being destroyed or damaged.
  4. Material that is too flimsy to be cut under 20,000 PSI and up.

What materials does WaterJetNJ stock?

Only these materials listed we stock in our shop. All other material would be sourced.

  1. Stainless steel sheet from thickness 0.0625" to 0.500"
  2. Aluminum sheet from 0.250" to 1.500"
  3. Polycarbonate sheet 0.250" and 0.375"

How much does it cost to cut (fill-in-the-blank)?

The business of water jet cutting is the business of estimating jobs. It is impossible to give an estimate without plugging some variables into the machine.

The most important variables to get an estimate are as follows:

  1. The thickness of the material (for example 0.125" inch thick)
  2. The type of material (for example "titanium grade 6")
  3. The perimeter of the cutting per piece (for example a 24" inch perimeter.)
  4. The quantity of said pieces to be cut (for example 4 pieces.)

In this example I would be estimating what it cost to cut a 0.125" thick piece of titanium that has a perimeter of 24". This would give me the cost for cutting 1 piece. The total job cost would then be multiplied by the quantity of 4 pieces

What do I do if I do not have a drawing or CAD file?

We can draw up what you need. The hourly rate is $150 per hour. It would be included in the estimate.

What forms of payments does WaterJetNJ accept?

We prefer Bitcoin. But credit card, check, or cash are all suitable.

Where can I submit files after completing the estimate request form?

Please only submit files after completing the Estimate form.

Only submit .PDF, .DXF. or .DWG files. All other files types will be ignored.
